The obvious advantages of LCD

For CRT displays, LCD overcomes the shortcomings of CRT's bulk, power consumption and flicker, but it also brings problems such as high cost, wide viewing angle and unsatisfactory color display. However, technically, the advantages of liquid crystal displays are still obvious, mainly in the following six aspects:

1. Smaller size and lighter weight

Conventional CRT displays require a built-in vacuum picture tube because of the use of picture tube technology, and an electron gun is used at the end to make the length generally exceed 30 cm. The size of the entire display is of course larger. For example, the liquid crystal display uses liquid crystal material, and then uses the corresponding imaging technology to achieve the display purpose. It does not need to install the picture tube inside the display, and the volume is of course small. Like the EMC 15-inch liquid crystal display BM-568, its volume is only 19 inches CRT display volume. From one-half to one-third, it has a large elasticity when placed, and its small size certainly reduces its weight.

2. the relative display area is larger

Traditional CRT monitors are limited by the display technology, and their size is smaller than that of the screen. Generally, a 15-inch CRT monitor, although its size is 15 inches, its true visual range It may be only 14.1 inches, while a 17-inch display may only have a display area of 15 to 16 inches below it. However, due to the difference in the principle of the image, the size of the liquid crystal display is the actual display area. For example, the display area of Samsung's 15-inch LCD monitor is completely 15 inches, which is equivalent to the display of a 17-inch CRT monitor. The area, if the price of the two is similar, of course, it is much more cost-effective to buy a liquid crystal display.

3. Zero radiation, no flicker

The CRT display uses cathode cathode tube imaging, and the electron beam contained therein generates a lot of static electricity and radiation when moving, and the faster the electron beam runs, the greater the radiation, the long-term use of the human body, causing damage to the eyes and skin. Causes eye myopia, skin irritation and other issues. Since the liquid crystal display uses a liquid crystal material, it is not necessary to use an electron beam during operation, so there is no problem that both static electricity and radiation affect vision. In addition, the formation of a picture of a CRT display is formed by horizontal scanning. Only when the scanning frequency reaches a certain value, there is no flickering phenomenon, and the liquid crystal display does not require any scanning process, and one picture is almost simultaneously formed, even if The refresh rate is very low and there is no flickering.

4. Low power consumption and strong anti-interference ability

In addition to circuit and image power consumption, CRT displays the power consumption of the display. The liquid crystal display is mainly used for backlight and circuit power consumption. The power consumption of the display is negligible, like EMC's 15-inch display BM- The 568, which consumes only 35 watts, is nearly 50% smaller than the CRT product with the same display area. In addition, since the liquid crystal display does not use the picture tube and the electron gun to image like the CRT display, it is not necessary to consider the high radiation effect caused by the electron beam emitted from the electron gun, but only the backlight emitted by the fluorescent tube to obtain the brightness, so that it has a stronger The anti-interference ability, even in the environment where the light is concentrated, will be well displayed.

5. The picture quality is higher

The traditional CRT display adopts the analog display mode, and the signal output of the display card adopts the analog output mode, which may cause the image to be lost during the transmission process, resulting in the degradation of the picture quality, and the signal transmission of the liquid crystal display adopts the digital mode. Direct input of unclear signals by the graphics card will not cause signal loss. However, most LCD monitors still use VGA interfaces for analog displays. Only a few manufacturers such as EMC, Samsung, and ACER have set up digital video signal interfaces.

6. Use functions more intelligent

Due to the different materials and technologies used in liquid crystal displays, some of its parameters are generally fixed, which requires the performance adjustment of the display to be more intelligent. In this respect, each manufacturer has its own mature technology. In general, There are two main types. One is similar to the EMC Auto-set automatic adjustment and setting function. As long as one of the parameters is adjusted, the other parameters are automatically adjusted to the corresponding values, and the values are used to ensure the display effect. The other type uses the one-button recovery function, which pre-fabricates a key, and all parameters can be changed back to the factory default settings with a single touch.
